A horticulturist known as “the naked gardener” has revealed why she strips down to get her hands dirty outside.
The plant-lover, who has not disclosed her real name, has racked up more than 233,000 followers on YouTube thanks to videos that show her gardening while topless.
In a clip titled “Why I Garden The Naked Way / Organic Return to Nature,” the content creator claims her aversion to clothing isn’t a publicity stunt, and says gardening in the nude helps her connect with nature.
“When I get to feel the sun warm my skin and feel the air move across my body, it makes me feel all that much closer to the natural world around me,” she explains in a voiceover cut against footage that shows her toiling away in a vegetable patch with her breasts out.
While the naturalist isn’t completely naked given that she still wears a sunhat and hot pants, she encourages others to similarly shed clothing while doing yard work.
“We are all here on this planet now,” the horticulturist states. “Our ability to create life, to sustain our species and yet as a culture we place shame and judgment on our bodies and sexuality.”
“That’s why I garden the naked way,” she confidently concludes.
In the description, the YouTuber adds further details of her topless travails in her garden, saying: “I have been building a homestead and food forest permaculture garden for two years now, and don’t use any chemicals. I also love to let my body soak up the sun, touch the earth, and feel the air. A hippie at heart living more naturally!”
The gardener loves on a secluded property at an undisclosed location in the Midwest, where she is thankfully free of prying eyes as she works away while topless.
However, some snarky viewers aren’t as lucky and ridiculed the woman’s exhibitionism.
One stated: “I tried naked gardening. My neighbors in the city didn’t appreciate the quality of my zucchinis.”
Another accused her of false marketing by branding herself as “the naked gardener.”
“You do this all topless so I guess truly not a naked gardener,” the skeptic declared.
However, many fawned over the green thumb’s gardening prowess, with the woman possibly planting the seed for a generation of nude horticulturalists.
Others also agreed that stripping off outside was essential to a person’s overall well-being.
