Robert Plant (born Robert Anthony Plant on August 20, 1948) is an English musician, singer, and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of the rock band Led Zeppelin. He grew up in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England. Robert was inspired at a young age by Elvis Presley and left school to begin his musical career. He performed with a number of groups before he was discovered by Jimmy Page, who was in search of a lead singer for a new band he was forming — the New Yardbirds. The group eventually became Led Zeppelin. Robert launched his solo career in 1982 only to reunite with the band for occasional benefits. In 2006, heavy metal magazine Hit Parader named Plant No. 1 on their list of the 100 Greatest Metal Vocalists of All-Time.

Personal Life:
Robert Plant married Maureen Wilson on November 9, 1968. The couple had three children, but the couple divorced in August 1983. Sadly, in 1977, during Led Zeppelin’s US tour, his five year old son Karac died of a stomach infection. Robert then had a relationship with Maureen’s sister Shirley Wilson and the two had a son in 1991.
